Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari, 3 days
Rwanda is gifted with a lush diverse habitat for 800 of the world’s surviving mountain gorilla that are declared an endangered species worthy of conservation. Parc National de Volcanoes in northern Rwanda is part of the gorilla conservation area that stretches from south western Uganda and south east of DR Congo. The Virunga volcanic ranges are laid in green dense forest vegetation and are a must visit on Rwanda Safaris.
For late arrivals at Entebbe International Airport, check into a hotel for overnight and dinner, alternatively, arrive straight through Kigali the capital of Rwanda.
Day 1: Transfers to Rwanda
From Kampala, have your breakfast in your hotel and then travel south west through the beautiful rolling hills, past the famed long horned Ankole cattle grazing by the road side, and for the intensely terraced Kigezi hill slopes and reach the Uganda-Rwanda border in Kisoro. The long 8 hour journey ends at Ruhengeri where you’ll find overnight accommodation and dinner from Gorilla nest lodge, Mountain Gorilla view lodge or Kinigi guesthouse.
Day 2 Volcanoes National Park Gorilla tracking
Wake up to a heavy breakfast and then head to Musanze a small town at the entrance of the park where you’ll be given sessions of briefing on Uganda safaris and details on your gorilla trekking adventures. By mid-morning start your gorilla tracking experience behind the lead of a trained tracker and guides
Trails through the dense forests on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanic mountains lead you silver back gorilla families or black gorilla families feeding deep within the forest canopy. On the trail are sights of the rare golden monkeys only seen here! Gorilla trekking is sometimes more than 2 hours. Remember to take your lunch box for the gorilla trekking takes longer hours.
Enjoy the one-hour you have to take pictures of the coy forest giants before you return to your lodge for overnight accommodation and dinning.
Alternatively, head back to Uganda immediately after the trekking experience and find overnight accommodation from Kisoro town. Dinner and overnight is available from Kisoro Tourist Hotel or Arcadia Cottages on Lake Bunyonyi.
Board your tour van after breakfast for a 9-hour journey to Kampala. Get your lunch break at a hotel en-route. Arrive in time for departure flights at Entebbe airport.
