The park is a home of the big Five safari  with about 72 mammals including lions, baboons, Giraffes, Hippos, Elephants, Buffaloes, warthogs, over 460 different birds species thus  a spot for bird watching safaris in Uganda  including the Shoebill Stork and 53 kinds of raptors as well as migrant birds. Day One:  Kampala / Murchison falls

Early departure from your hotel in Kampala at 7:00am heading for Uganda’s largest Wildlife and game park also a game reserve.    The journey Visit Murchison Falls National Parkwill take through the stunning and scenic countryside, dotted with traditional homesteads, banana plantations, along the roadside will be local fruits stands and vegetables for sale by the locals to earn a living, As you continue for your Africa safari you will see Uganda’s version of a drive through fast food joints like roasted meat ( Mchomo)  and Banana ( Gonja), except they run up to the windows selling meat or chicken on a skewer, sodas, cassava and others.

We continue with our drive through the Masindi town where we will stop for lunch on the return journey and then turn off for our Uganda trip to Murchison Falls National Park. If you are looking for a map showing Murchison falls you can easily find it on Microsoft referred to as Kabarega Falls. The name Kabalega was given to the park by Idi Amin and it was later changed to Murchison Falls soon after he had left in 1979.

If you choose to stay at Luxury Paraa Lodge and Nile Safari Lodge the two lodges have a pool for you to swim.  Paraa safari lodge represents the best Luxury Value in Uganda’s National parks.   Chobe safari Lodge is at the other side of the park and not within the area of the game drive and other park activities.

After lunch we set off for the first game drive welcoming you to Murchison falls and expect to spot resident of this park like elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes of all types, warthogs, buffaloes.

There is nothing to be rushed since you are on your Africa trip , the safari vehicle stops at your cautious and you are accompanied by an expert Uganda  safari   guide who is fully familiar with were to spot  elephants, giraffe ,lions, elephants, giraffe,  the different  the tree species , birds, butterflies.

Retire to your lodging after the evening game drive, in some cases this will require you to cross the Nile River by ferry, but there is nothing like observing a sunset over Nile in the evening.  Enjoy Africa dinner at your lodge as you listen to the sounds of the falls from a distance and sometime from a zero distance.

Day Two:  Morning game drive Nile river boat cruise

This morning there is nothing like breakfast. You set off early another game viewing safari across the savannah, driving along Lake Albert Delta, stunning wildlife make sure you take pictures as you move slowly as the sun rises and spotting early risers.  Welcome to the heart of Africa Wildlife.  What you are imagining and feeling  ,seeing  animals surrounding  around you cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world, this is the real  Murchison Falls with its water falls, lions , elephants ,hippos, giraffe, birds, leopards, buffaloes, warthogs etc.  Remember you See crocodiles basking in the sunare in Africa and you are on Uganda safari in the heart of it. Return to your lodge for late breakfast, relax.

After lunch you will carry out one of the highlights of your Murchison Falls safari package, the boat cruise tour up the Nile River.  Slowly riding along the Nile river bank seeing crocodiles on water, school of   hippos, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, and different birds including the water birds, fish eagle, shoebill storks and many more. The boat moves slowly  up the river and don’t move in the right ahand side here you just have keep on the left hand to be in right position where  you can  see most of the animals who come to the river to drink water.  Herds of Elephants cooling off, Hippopotamus frolicking, crocodiles just romancing and dozing in the African sun.

It is from this park where you will be able to see the power of nature displaying at the Murchison Falls.  The Nile River is 50 meters above the falls, moves down through a 6 meter gorge and falls down 43 meters, the sound of the flowing water is deafening and the view makes you realise and imagine how forceful nature can be.  The water at the bottom of the falls is charming, any vegetation is literally moved to different directions by the force of the water resulting in large sheets of foam, from the power and forces of the river.

You may also see crocodile close by the bank on the Nile river as the bask in the afternoon sun (sun bathing), just down from there you can see a school of hippos frolicking in the water of the Nile.  There are literally thousands of hippopotamus to be found here, bird life in abundance.

The Murchison falls  tour down  the Nile river slowly begins and more chances  for seeing  animals before you  are transferred  to your lodging for a gorgeous  dinner and an evening of relaxation  and rest , don’t miss out spotting  bird species like eagles, storks, egrets and many other interesting birds this place is  a birdwatchers paradise, there are also a variety of primates like Monkeys and baboons  to be found on the shores.  Enjoy you safari at the Nile.  Day 3:  Travel back to Kampala

See the beautiful falls in MurchisonMorning and a relaxes breakfast and then we pack our luggage ready for the return journey  to Kampala with a stop at the top of the falls from where the earth literally shakes from the power  and strength of the falls, At this point you will be in position to spot a rainbow generated by the mists of the fall.  There is a path down and it certainly is another rewarding and life time Africa safari experience that you will remember for a long time.

Then we continue to Masindi where stop at the Masindi Hotel where Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn stayed while launching “The African Queen”, have lunch and proceed to Kampala arriving around later afternoon.  Masindi hotel is the oldest hotel in Uganda built in in 1923.

Interesting to Note: The name Murchison falls was name by the British Discoverer Samuel Baker in 1864. It was during this time that Samuel Baker was trying to protect his wife Florence in Bulgaria from a Harem and she decided to give him company. She moved with him (Baker) all over Africa-quite a feat in those days ended up at   Murchison Falls thus gave it a name in 1864 in respect of the president of the Royal Geographical Society.  Hemingway also has a history in regard to Murchison Falls Park, where he crash landed in a plane in 1954 and then on take off the new plane had an engine fire and he narrowly escaped death and was rescued and taken care of at Masindi Hospital for treatment.  Kathryn Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart made the movie “African Queen” in part on the Nile and Lake Albert in the Murchison Falls Park.
