KIBALE NATIONAL PARK.

Size: 766 km²
Location: West of Uganda, about 300 kms from Kampala
Mammals: forest elephant, bushbuck, giant hog, buffalo, forest hog, civet cat, duiker, chimpanzee, guereza, red colobus monkey, Vervet monkey, over 300 species of birds, over 140 species of butterflies.

Kibale is located south of Fort portal, at an altitude of about 1,230m above sea level. The forest covers an area of about 760sq km and is divided into seven zone for management purposes, the forest is characterized by mountain forest and a mixture of tropical deciduous wood with swamps and grasslands. Kibale Forest National park is one of the most gorgeous and marvelous forests in Uganda. It is the most popular habitat for the endangered Chimpanzee. This park has one of the highest numbers of primates in Africa totaling around 13 species with Blue monkey, Red Tailed monkey, and Black and White Colobus monkeys, Bush Babies, Grey Cheeked Mangabey and Pottos.
Apart from about 800 chimpanzees other 12 primates such as guerezas, blue monkeys, bush babies, black-backed monkeys, red-tailed monkeys and the rare red colobus monkeys.
